Enable for having the option that safety stock is a demand directly pegged against the planned order created for it. It enables a new parameter on the coverage group that allows you to choose between: 1) As currently working safety stock: safety stock is the least important of the demands, so that whenever a planned order is created for safety stock any other demand will be prioritized, enabling higher service levels towards your customers or 2) Strict safety pegging: when a planned order is created for fulfilling safety stock, it will always be pegged against safety stock, not allowing any other demand to be pegged against it (unless period is used). This last may be useful for better visibility scenarios such as with a high number of negative days.
